Scroll down for questions that we did not have time to answer on the presentation. Dimp Rule & SHRIMP webinar from American Public Gas Association on Vimeo. There were a few questions that I didn't have time to answer during the presentation, but we have answered them for you below: Do you envision larger operators using this tool to simply break up their systems by town or operating district? Many larger utilities serve towns and cities with what are essentially stand-alone distribution systems more like a municipal system than a major city distribution system. SHRIMP would work well for these systems. In this case, though, the operator would need to What if I am a large operator, how could large amount of data be entered automatically? Currently it cannot, but we have talked with several GIS system vendors about how data could be imported. It may require a third party program. I’m sure Technical Toolboxes would be happy to help. Can SHRIMP be used for transmission? If not, is there a similar program for transmission---We just installed a HP line last year. To that point, we have only operated a distribution system. Sorry, no. TIMP is completely different than DIMP, however PHMSA has broached the subject of allowing distribution operators that operate transmission up to 30% SMYS to address integrity management of those lines in DIMP instead of TIMP. That will require a separate rulemaking before it is possible. Is payment required up front before a company can begin a plan? Yes. We are discussing putting a limited version of SHRIMP on line where a user could try one segment and one threat before deciding whether to buy the product, but up front paymet will be required before the full version can be accessed. How will my plan show updates and changes as I've implemented replacement programs? We will maintain on our computer two copies of the written plan for each user, the current version and the previous version. We have not discussed showing changes in subsequent plans, but that is a good idea. We will discuss it with the programmer and our advisors for enhancements. Given that the risk algorithm has been recently developed, how can I obtain the documentation / rationale? I am writing a separate paper on it. We’ll post it on the web when done. What is the progress on a check list (i.e., something even below SHRIMP) for master-meter systems? I think PHMSA is working on one. I see that we have several DOT employees watching, are any of them willing to comment on this product? I can’t answer that. (Marghet: DOT employees signed up as attendees not presenters so it would be unfair to ask them to comment on this particular webinar). Did the webinar already start? Yes, but you can catch up by downloading the audio and PowerPoint above to see what you missed. |
